What comes after Harry Potter?
The Deathly Hallows was great! However, it was painful to finally come to the end of the Harry Potter series. If you are feeling directionless… you don’t know where to turn for another great series of characters and adventures, here are some suggestions!
CS Lewis’s “Narnia” series
Phillip Pullman’s “Dark Material” series (beginning with the Golden Compass which will soon be a movie)
Ursula LeGuin’s “Wizard of Earthsea” series
Tamora Pierce has several great series
Cornelia Funke’s “Inkheart” series
Anne McCaffrey’s “Dragonriders of Pern”
I am currently reading a book called Ender’s Game which is shaping up to be a good sixth grade read. It also has a sequel.
What do you recommend? Post your favorite read from this summer!

I had a great summer and I hope you did, too! I spent five fun days camping and hiking with my family and friends on the Yampa River; it was great! We rafted all day, swimming and splashing through the canyon while watching for wildlife and pirates. At night we slept on the beach and told scary stories about big rapids.
I also reread Harry Potter The Half Blood Prince before reading the last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Besides camping and reading, I gardened, hung out with my family, learned about insectaries, took a boat to Santa Rosa Island, walked my dog, and generally relaxed!
Let us know what you did! Post a description of one of your summer experiences!
