Just another Blog.pvusd.net weblog

Welcome to Ohlone’s Tech page! We are (mostly) a Mac school, but several teachers also have PC’s in their classroom. Our lab is just over a year old, and has approx. 27 Macs. One of the most commonly used programs in our lab is Successmaker. Teachers can take their students into the lab twice a week for 30 min sessions. In addition to using successmaker, teachers also use the lab for students to do research reports, word processing, Quickreads, Lexia, Ultra Key, and several other programs. Being that this is a new lab, it is still a work in progress.

Every classroom at Ohlone has at least one computer, if not more. Classrooms are either Mac or PC rooms, depending upon where there are located within the school. We also recently got networked computers that are shared between three or four classrooms.

Use of technology across the school is slow, but progressing. Teachers are becoming excited about the possibilities of technology in the classroom and within the school and are seeking new opportunities to integrate technology within their curriculum.

Overall, technology at Ohlone is very active and as our tech liason, I look forward to working with the staff to help them feel more comfortable using technology both for themselves and with their students.

What are you doing at your school that is helping to progress technology? I have a difficult time with all the new blog/wiki/pod lingo, do you find your teachers willing to learn this new terminology?

It’s great that Ohlone has a blog. I think blogging has great potential for teacher idea sharing!
