2006-2007… a year in review

we have made several improvements in our technology program this past year. we have set up our laptops in a lab which has allowed for more teachers to regularly access them. 2006-2007 was the first year of accelerated reader implementation at our site. this programs has been huge in getting things rolling with technology.

another exciting development this year in our student server, which allows students to be able to save and access their work from any computer that is networked to that server.

teachers, technicians and parents have been working very hard to get classroom computers updated and able to run the web based AR program. all classrooms now have at least on computer that can access the internet, which has been a huge success this year.

with greater teacher comfort in using technology, we are hoping to move beyond AR in the computer lab. we will soon have the ultra key (keyboarding) programs working and also begin to teach grade appropriate computer skills. we are also looking to implement rosetta stone to to aid in the language development of our english language learners. general ed teachers have a great challenge ahead in taking an active role with building technolgy at our school especially without a computer teacher at our site. we look forward to more trainings to make these other programs successful.

we have had introductions to some of the great resources available for student and teacher use through ed1stop and i am looking forward to starting the year off with further educating our staff on these valuable programs and getting them utilized in the lab.
